About

To My Readers:

My name is Kayla! I am a senior in college who is majoring in History with a minor in Technical & Professional Communications, and I am an avid reader.

I have a deep love for books (hence why I started this blog). I firmly believe that reading is highly imperative--it helps develop the human mind, allows people to discover new things, and it creates imagination. Most importantly, words are the building blocks of life, therefore, making reading essential in society. Reading also provides language acquisition and a free-learning environment. My main mission, through this book review blog, is to stress the importance of extensive reading and to also inspire people to pick up a book.

I hope to create a great community and a friendly environment for all avid readers. I want this blog to be a place where we can all discuss and share our favorite reads with one another--while simultaneously raising awareness of reading and to also enforce people to recognize the importance of literacy.

Also, here are some few fun facts...well about me, to make my uninteresting self sound interesting!

  • My favorite TV shows are Gilmore Girls (duh), The Twilight Zone, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock (timelessly hilarious), Bates Motel, Downton Abbey (I aspire to be Violet when I'm older),  and Sex and the City (my ultimate fave).
  • I drink at least 3 cups of coffee per day, which isn't really bad when you think about it. Others drink twice or triple that amount (just saying).
  • The book that made me fall in love with reading was definitely a Dr. Seuss book, Green Eggs and Ham.
  •  I am a proud introvert--there's nothing shameful about being antisocial and locking yourself in your room with a book, right?
  • I have more books than friends, which actually makes my life less complicated. Who needs a crowd of friends when one book can be your best friend? Too many friends causes too many problems, too many books only causes "space" problems--so I'll take the books any day.
  • When I get a job, earn a steady income, and when I am alleviated from my financial burden of student loans, I'm going to purchase a mini pig. I love pigs, they are my obsession, I don't know why and I cannot explain it.
  • I have traveled to 8 different European countries.
  • My favorite dog breed is either a Corgi or Jack Russell Terrier. I'm still deciding.
  • My dream goal is to maybe one day start a book club!
  • My old dream job was to be a renowned journalist, but I'm not pursuing it no more. I don't want to be paid to write. If I'm going to write, I am going to write when I want to.
  • I am an amateur photographer.

And that is the extent of the many "fun facts" about me. I am not an interesting nor a unique character, but I think that's okay I suppose.

In conclusion, I truly hope you will all come to love this blog, as much as I already do, and will also enjoy my book reviews!

“Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for each dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life.” ― Stephen King
